Echelon
about.
Echelon is a personal, local-first system designed to manage tasks, habits, and long-term maintenance without relying on cloud services. The project focuses on building a reliable, always-available system that integrates software architecture, automation, and user-facing interfaces.
My role involved system design, backend development, frontend implementation, and iterative refinement based on real-world use.
challenge.
The primary challenge was designing a system that remains reliable and usable without constant user input or external cloud dependencies. This required balancing flexibility with structure, managing state across multiple system components, and ensuring the system could scale in complexity without becoming brittle or overwhelming to use.
results.
The final system operates as a stable, always-available personal tool used to manage tasks, habits, and low-frequency responsibilities. Echelon demonstrates end-to-end system development, from architecture and implementation through long-term testing and iteration, and continues to evolve based on ongoing use.
